Emergency Cases
The foot contains a total of 28 bones, and can be subdivided into the hindfoot (talus, heel bone), the midfoot (navicular, cuboid and three cuneiform bones), and the forefoot (metatarsus and phalanges). The human foot is an immaculately geometric anatomical structure. The foot and tibia form an angular lever which contributes to movements related to carrying the body· the bigger the extension of the tibia, the better the lever functions.
The most common deformity on the anterior compartment of the foot is a bony bump (bunion). Nowadays, in the field of orthopedic surgery, modern tendoscopy and arthroscopic techniques are implemented in order to treat deformities of the lower extremity which make walking difficult for the patents.
